IPL: MI vs KKR head-to-head record

IPL 2025 is set to be a crucial season for the Mumbai Indians (MI), one of the most successful teams in the tournament’s history. Last season, MI made a bold decision by handing over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma to star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was brought back from the Gujarat Titans (GT).

However, the move did not go as planned, as MI endured a disastrous campaign, finishing at the bottom of the table in tenth place with just eight points from 14 matches (four wins, ten losses). Despite the setback, MI has shown faith in Hardik and confirmed that he will continue as captain. 

This makes the upcoming season a big one for redemption. Over the years, MI has been involved in several thrilling rivalries, and their clashes with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have always been among the most anticipated. Fans from both sides eagerly wait for these encounters, and IPL 2025 will be no exception.

In 34 IPL meetings so far, MI has dominated KKR, winning 23 matches compared to KKR’s 11. However, recent form suggests a shift in momentum. In the last six matches between the two sides, KKR has won five, including both encounters last season.

MI will begin their campaign on 23 March against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chennai. Knowing CSK’s passionate fans and the atmosphere in Chennai’s den, this could be the hardest away fixture ever to begin a new season. 

Meanwhile, KKR will start their title defence on 22 March against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. In IPL 2025, MI and KKR will face each other only once, with MI hosting the defending champions at Wankhede Stadium on 31 March.

For KKR, a major challenge will be adapting to a new captain, who is yet to be announced. Reports suggest that their big-money signing, Venkatesh Iyer, is a strong contender for the role. The question now is whether he or anyone can lead KKR to continue their dominance over MI or if MI will add another win to their overall tally.
