3 times 'no-balls' were costly in IPL (Source: Twitter)
Every bowler strives to avoid bowling a no-ball, whether in franchise cricket or international contests. In the IPL, there have been numerous instances where a no-ball was too expensive for the bowling team.
Let's look at three cases in IPL history where a no-ball cost a team a game.
3. Ben Hilfenhaus, CSK vs KKR, IPL 2012 final

Despite Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis bringing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) back into the game, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were the favourites to win the top match as they had to defend 16 off seven deliveries.
The night's best bowler, Hilfenhaus, bowled a waist-high no-ball to Shakib Al Hasan on his final delivery, which the batsman top-edged to mid-wicket. After taking a fantastic running catch, Murali Vijay congratulated himself on the victory. A no-ball signal from the umpire ended the revelry, though.
The situation was perfect for Shakib, who had just arrived at the crease. In the last over, KKR needed to score nine runs, which Manoj Tiwari completed in only four balls after he scooped the free-hit delivery to short fine leg for a boundary. Hilfenhaus' no-ball ultimately cost CSK the match and the final.
2. RP Singh, RCB vs CSK, IPL 2013

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings' match at Chepauk had a lacklustre conclusion. Ravindra Jadeja smashed RP Singh for a six and a four off his first two balls as Chennai needed 16 off the final over. The bowler had a great turnaround since he only allowed four runs to be scored in his next three deliveries.
Jadeja edged a short, wide ball from RP Singh to the short third man with two needed off the final ball. The RCB camp began celebrating, but umpire Anil Choudhary ordered a no-ball. The joy for RCB quickly changed into sadness as the batters ran a single of their own to give CSK the victory.
1. Sandeep Sharma, RR vs SRH, IPL 2023

To defeat the Rajasthan Royals (RR), SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) had to score 41 runs in the last two overs. But Glenn Phillips made sure his team had a chance by scoring 22 runs off the first four deliveries of the 19th over, giving them a slim opportunity. Abdul Samad reduced the equation from 17 needed in the final over to 5 on the last ball.
However, the major turn occurred when Samad holed out to long-off on the sixth ball of the over, and Rajasthan began to rejoice. But as the dreaded siren sounded, Sandeep Sharma had gone too far. To give SRH a historic victory, Samad smoked Sandeep's attempted yorker on the free-hit to long-on for a six.
