IPL: 3 MI players who may find a new team in IPL 2026

A determined Punjab Kings, captained by a fiery Shreyas Iyer, eliminated the Mumbai Indians from the 2025 Indian Premier League, extending the most successful team's trophy-less run to five years. With Hardik still captaining the team, the five-time champions will be keen to improve next season and will probably try to make some significant roster changes to do so.

1. Will Jacks

The Mumbai Indians placed ₹5.25 crore on Will Jacks at last year's big auction, demonstrating their strong belief in him. He joined the Mumbai squad. This season, however, this choice has not been as advantageous. Will Jacks has only scored 233 runs in 13 games this season, including one half-century, despite Mumbai's elimination from the IPL 2025.

Additionally, he hasn't had much of an impact as an all-around player. He might be replaced by Jonny Bairstow, who arrived towards the end as a replacement and made a significant impression with the bat.

2. Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Mujeeb Ur Rahman has had a dismal IPL career, both this season and in the past. For ₹2 crore, Mujeeb was selected to replace the injured spinner Allah Ghazanfar in the 2025 Indian Premier League. Mujeeb, however, only participated in one game during the season and was unable to fit into the starting lineups.

However, his performance in the opportunity he had did not impress. Given how skillfully Mitchell Santner is managing the spin department, it appears likely that Mumbai will release Mujeeb before the upcoming season.

3. Deepak Chahar

It would have been interesting a few years ago to watch Deepak Chahar bowl at Wankhede Stadium. However, he is no longer the same bowler due to a string of ailments. Bought for INR 9.25 crore, and he was paired with Trent Boult. In 12 games, he got 10 wickets at an economy rate of 9.31. In the powerplay, which is his forte, he has given up runs at an 8.82 rate.

His value in T20 cricket declines significantly when his new-ball bowling is subpar because he is essentially unbowled in other phases. MI can obtain another seamer at a significantly reduced cost by freeing up a significant quantity of money.
