IPL 2026: Cameron Green blames manager for registering him as a batter instead of an all-rounder in the auction

Cameron Green clarified his IPL 2026 auction listing as a 'Batter' was a manager's mistake, stating, "I'll be good to bowl." The all-rounder, a top auction draw, dispelled fitness concerns, but the early listing in Set 1 is still seen as a strategic move to maximize his high-value bid.

Australian star all-rounder Cameron Green has revealed that he would be available to bowl in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, adding that his listing as a batter in the IPL 2026 mini-auction was a mistake by his manager.

Speaking exclusively to ESPNCricinfo, Green has disclosed that his manager accidentally selected the wrong box of batter instead of ticking the all-rounder box, adding that it was actually a ‘stuff-up’ on his manager’s end.

Green previously played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2023 and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2024, but had missed the IPL 2025 season while recovering from back surgery.

For the unversed, the all-rounder returned to international cricket in June as a specialist batter. However, he has been cleared to bowl for Australia in the ongoing Ashes 2025-26 series against England. In the IPL 2026 mini-auction, he has been listed with a base price of INR 2 crore.

"I'll be good to bowl. I don't know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn't mean to say 'batter'. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It was pretty funny how it's all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end." Green told ESPNCricinfo.

Furthermore, Green also revealed that he would be watching the mini-auction from his team hotel, which will take place the night before the third Ashes 2025-26 Test against England. He also added that he is keen to see where his teammates would go.

"I'm sure I will be [watching], with a few other guys. They're always good fun to watch. It's a bit of a lottery where you might go, but also who might be in your team, so it's always been fun to watch,” he concluded.
