Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced their fourth straight loss in IPL 2025 as Gujarat Titans (GT) beat them by seven wickets in Hyderabad. After winning their season opener, nothing has gone right for SRH, whether at home or away. GT pacer Mohammed Siraj was named Player of the Match for his brilliant four-wicket haul.
GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first. Siraj, in great rhythm, struck early. He continued his good form from the last game and removed Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma quickly. The rest of the GT bowlers also chipped in, restricting SRH to just 152/8 in 20 overs.
For SRH, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 31 from 34 balls. Heinrich Klaasen added 27 off 18. Captain Pat Cummins hit a late cameo of 22 not out from just nine balls. But apart from them, no one else made a big impact. The lack of partnerships hurt SRH’s chances. Siraj finished with four wickets, while Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore picked up two each.
Let’s take a look at GT’s chase
In the chase, GT lost two quick wickets and the pressure was on. But Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar steadied things with a 90-run stand for the third wicket. Washington looked in great touch before a controversial catch ended his innings on 49 off 29 balls. Sherfane Rutherford came in at number four and smashed an unbeaten 35 from 16 balls.
Shubman remained not out on 61 off 43 as GT reached the target with seven wickets in hand and 20 balls to spare. For SRH, Pat Cummins took one wicket while Mohammed Shami picked up two. With this win, GT moved to second place in the table with three wins from four matches. They now have six points and a net run rate of +1.031.
On the other hand, SRH are at the bottom with only two points from five games. Their net run rate is -1.629. GT will next face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on 9 April in Ahmedabad. SRH will play Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Hyderabad on 12 April.
