Mumbai Indians (MI) are on a roll, having registered their sixth consecutive win in the ongoing IPL 2025 by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 100 runs in Jaipur. Ryan Rickelton was named Player of the Match for his 61 off 38 balls.
After winning the toss, RR skipper Riyan Parag opted to bowl first, but MI got off to a brisk start, courtesy of the opening pair of Rickelton and Rohit Sharma. They put up a 116-run partnership for the first wicket in 11.5 overs before Rohit was dismissed for 53 off 36. Rickelton followed soon after, scoring 61 off 38, dismissed by Maheesh Theekshana.
Then, Suryakumar Yadav (48* off 23) and Hardik Pandya (48* off 23) stitched together an unbeaten 94-run stand for the third wicket, helping MI post a commanding total of 217/2 in 20 overs. For RR, Riyan Parag and Theekshana picked up one wicket each.
Let’s take a look at RR’s Chase
In reply, RR batters crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for 117 in 16.1 overs. In their last game, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi had set the stage with a historic ton, but this time he was dismissed for a two-ball duck. Even the star batters failed to make an impact, with the highest scorer surprisingly being Jofra Archer, who made 30 off 27 balls.
For MI, both Karn Sharma and Trent Boult took three wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah claimed two and Deepak Chahar picked up one.
With this win, MI have moved to the top of the table with 14 points from 11 games and a net run rate of +1.274. RR, meanwhile, continue to struggle, sitting eighth with six points from 11 matches and a net run rate of -0.780.
MI’s next match is against Gujarat Titans (GT) on 6 May in Mumbai, while RR will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 4 May in Kolkata.
