IPL 2025: Who won yesterday's game between RR vs GT?

A scintillating win for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur, as they defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by eight wickets. Chasing a daunting total of 210, the 14-year-old sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, played a gem of a knock, smashing 101 off just 38 balls to set up the chase for his team. Deservedly, he was named the Player of the Match.

After winning the toss, RR skipper Riyan Parag opted to bowl first. Once again, the GT opening pair of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan gave a fantastic start, adding 93 runs for the first wicket in 10.2 overs. After Sudharsan departed for 39 (30), Jos Buttler came in and stitched a 74-run partnership with Gill. Gill batted superbly, striking at 168.00, and scored 84 off 50 balls. 

Buttler remained unbeaten with a blistering 50* off just 26 balls, at a strike rate of 192.30. However, apart from them, no other batter made a major impact, and GT finished on 209/4 in 20 overs. For RR, Maheesh Theekshana picked up two wickets, while Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma claimed one wicket each.

In reply, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi opened the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal and completely lit up the stage. Vaibhav took on the renowned GT bowling attack fearlessly, smashing sixes and fours for fun. He reached his century in just 35 balls, becoming the second-fastest to score a century in IPL history. 

At just 14 years and 32 days, he also became the youngest player to score a T20 century. His innings included 11 sixes and seven fours, with a staggering strike rate of 265.78. Together with Jaiswal, Vaibhav stitched a mammoth 166-run opening stand in just 11.5 overs. Jaiswal also played a brilliant knock, finishing unbeaten on 70* off 40 balls. 

Later, captain Riyan Parag smashed an unbeaten 32 off 15 balls at a strike rate of 213.33 to take RR home. Rajasthan chased down the target with 25 balls and eight wickets to spare. For GT, Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan picked up one wicket each.

With this win, RR have climbed to the eighth spot with six points from 10 games and a net run rate of -0.349. Meanwhile, GT remained in the third spot with 12 points from nine games and a net run rate of +0.748. GT’s next match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 2 May in Ahmedabad, while RR will face the in-form Mumbai Indians (MI) in Jaipur on 1 May.
