IPL 2025: Who won yesterday's game between RR vs CSK?

Rajasthan Royals (RR) finally secured their first win of the ongoing IPL 2025 season after two losses, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six runs in Guwahati. In front of their home crowd, it was a redemption for Riyan Parag and his team following their disappointing loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

RR’s Nitish Rana was named Player of the Match for his crucial 81 off 36 balls. CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to field first. RR suffered an early setback as Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for just four runs. However, Nitish Rana and Sanju Samson steadied the innings with an 82-run partnership for the second wicket.

Samson fell after scoring 20 off 16 balls, but skipper Riyan Parag added a valuable 37 off 28 deliveries. Nitish played a blistering knock, smashing 81 off 36 balls, before being dismissed. In the end, Shimron Hetmyer chipped in with 19 off 16 as RR finished their innings at 182/9 in 20 overs.

For CSK, Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed, and Matheesha Pathirana picked up two wickets each, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja claimed one wicket each.

Let’s take a look at CSK’s chase

RR’s bowlers made an excellent start as Jofra Archer dismissed Rachin Ravindra for a four-ball duck. Rahul Tripathi struggled but managed 23 off 19 balls. The standout performer for CSK was their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who played a fighting knock of 63 off 44 balls.

In the middle order, both Shivam Dube and Vijay Shankar attempted to anchor the chase but failed to make significant contributions. Towards the end, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni carried CSK’s hopes, needing 20 runs off the final over. However, Sandeep Sharma struck a crucial blow by dismissing Dhoni for 16 off 11 balls.

Despite Jamie Overton smashing a six off him, Sandeep held his nerve to secure the win for RR. Jadeja remained unbeaten on 32 off 22 balls, but CSK fell short, managing 176/6 in 20 overs. For RR, Wanindu Hasaranga was the star, claiming four wickets.
