IPL 2025: Who won yesterday's game between RCB vs PBKS?

In a rain-curtailed 14-over game, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by five wickets at Chinnaswamy in the ongoing IPL 2025. RCB’s Tim David was named the Player of the Match for scoring 50* (26), despite the knock coming in a losing cause.

After winning the toss, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer opted to bowl first. The decision turned out to be a fantastic one as they restricted RCB to just 95/9 in 14 overs. Besides the RCB skipper, Rajat Patidar, scoring 23 (18), David played an outstanding unbeaten cameo of 50 off 26 as they reached 95. 

For PBKS, Harpreet Brar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Marco Jansen, and Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets each. Xavier Bartlett grabbed one for 26.

In reply, PBKS chased down the target in 12.1 overs with five wickets in hand, but it did not look as easy as it seemed when they came out to bat. Priyansh Arya scored 16 (11), while Prabhsimran Singh scored 13 off nine balls. Captain Iyer failed, scoring just seven runs, while Josh Inglis contributed 14 (17). 

After eight overs at 53/4, things were looking a little tricky, but Nehal Wadhera played an outstanding unbeaten knock of 33 off 19, at a strike rate of 173.68, as they chased down the target with 11 balls to spare.

For RCB, Josh Hazlewood shone with the ball, picking up three wickets for 14 runs in three overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also grabbed two wickets.

With this loss, RCB are now in the fourth spot with eight points from seven games and a net run rate of +0.446. PBKS, on the other hand, have now won five out of their seven games and, with 10 points and a net run rate of +0.308, they are now in second spot. RCB’s next clash is again against PBKS, but this time in Mullanpur on 20 April.
