IPL 2025: Who won yesterday's game between RCB vs KKR?

IPL 2025 resumed yesterday, 17 May, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were scheduled to face each other at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. However, due to heavy rain, the match was eventually called off, and as a result, both teams were awarded one point each.

It was a must-win clash for the defending champions KKR to stay alive in the playoff race, but rain played spoilsport. With this result, KKR is now knocked out of the tournament with 12 points from 13 games and a net run rate of +0.193, currently sitting in sixth position.

On the other hand, RCB has now moved back to the top spot with 17 points from 12 games and a net run rate of +0.482. Several RCB fans were seen in the stands, waiting patiently for the game to start, but the rain had the last laugh.

RCB fans kept their promise, as many were seen wearing white Test jerseys, most of them with ‘Virat Kohli 18’ written on the back, to give a fitting tribute to his illustrious Test career after he announced his retirement from the format a few days ago. However, all their efforts went in vain as they failed to see Kohli in action for RCB.

RCB still has two league-stage games left in the IPL 2025

RCB's next clash is against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), again in Bengaluru, on 23 May. It will be another opportunity for the fans to pay tribute to their veteran batter. In the tournament context, RCB still has two league-stage games left and will aim to finish in the top two spots.

For KKR, their playoff journey might be over, but they still have one match left—against SRH on 25 May in Delhi. SRH are currently in eighth position with seven points from 11 games and a net run rate of -1.192. KKR will look to end their disappointing campaign with a win against SRH, who are already out of playoff contention.

However, RCB might lose their top spot today and slip to second place if the currently second-placed team, Gujarat Titans (GT), win their game against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Delhi on 18 May.
