Punjab Kings (PBKS) took a step closer to a playoff berth in this ongoing IPL 2025 as they registered a 37-run win over LSG in Dharamsala. PBKS’ Prabhsimran Singh was named the Player of the Match for his 91-run knock off 48 balls.
After winning the toss, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant decided to bowl first, but that decision turned out to be a nightmare as PBKS posted 236/5 in 20 overs. Priyansh Arya got out early, but Prabhsimran Singh played a fantastic knock of 91 runs off 48 balls, at a strike rate of 189.58.
Along with him, some cameos from Josh Inglis (30 off 14), Shreyas Iyer (45 off 25), and Nehal Wadhera (15 off nine balls) helped PBKS to score at a decent rate. In the end, Shashank Singh remained not out on 33 off 15 while Marcus Stoinis scored an unbeaten 15 off five balls as PBKS reached that mammoth total on the board.
For LSG, both Digvesh Rathi and Akash Singh bagged two wickets each, along with one from Prince Yadav.
Let’s take a look at LSG’s Chase
In reply, PBKS’ Arshdeep Singh was on fire as he dismissed all top three batters of LSG—Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, and Nicholas Pooran—within the powerplay. Then, another disappointing outing for Pant and David Miller with the bat as LSG were 73/5 in 9.5 overs.
Then, Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad tried their best with an 81-run partnership for the sixth wicket as Samad smashed 45 off 24 balls. Badoni scored 74 off 40 balls and in the end, Avesh Khan also added an unbeaten 19 off 10 balls as LSG reached 199/7 in 20 overs.
With this win, PBKS are now in the second spot with 15 points in 11 games, with a net run rate of +0.376, while LSG are now in the seventh spot with 10 points in 11 games, with a net run rate of -0.469. PBKS’s next clash is against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala on 8 May, while LSG will play against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Lucknow on 9 May.
