A humiliating batting display from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) led to an embarrassing defeat for them in Mullanpur against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing IPL 2025. After winning the toss, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer opted to bat first. However, the decision backfired as they got bundled out for just 111 runs in 15.3 overs. After an opening partnership of 39 runs between Priyansh Arya (22 off 12) and Prabhsimran Singh (30 off 15), they lost wickets at regular intervals and ultimately scored just 111 runs.
For KKR, Harshit Rana was the star with three wickets, while both Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy picked up two wickets each. Even Anrich Nortje and Vaibhav Arora bagged one wicket each.
Let’s take a look at KKR’s chase
In reply, when KKR came out for the chase, an easy win might have been loading for the visitors. But they had a shaky start by losing two wickets for just seven runs. Then, skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 55 runs for the third wicket. Rahane got out for 17 (17), and then Angkrish got out for 37 (28).
After that, they collapsed by losing five wickets for seven runs and were suddenly at 79/8 in 12.5 overs. Andre Russell was the last hope for them, but he also got out on 17 (11) as KKR got bundled out for 95 in 15.1 overs. Thus, PBKS defended the lowest-ever total in the history of IPL.
