The 58th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) ended with no result as the match was forced to be abandoned due to a significant technical failure at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. After a rain delay, the match began with no overs lost, and PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bat first.

It was a fantastic start for the home side as both Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh put on a show with a 122-run opening partnership in just 10.1 overs. Priyansh, after smashing 70 off 34 balls, was dismissed by T Natarajan, while Prabhsimran remained not out on 50 off 28 balls.
Skipper Iyer was set to come in at number three, but the match was paused due to a floodlight failure. After a few minutes, the game was officially suspended. The BCCI also issued a statement addressing the inconvenience caused to the spectators in the stadium.
Both PBKS and DC are still in contention for the IPL 2025 Playoffs
The statement read: "The Punjab Kings v Delhi Capitals match (Match #58) in Tata IPL was forced to be abandoned due to a significant technical failure at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Due to a power outage in the area, one of the light towers at the HPCA Stadium malfunctioned. BCCI regrets the inconvenience caused to the in-stadium attendees."
However, whether a point will be awarded to each team remains to be seen, but both teams are still in contention for the playoffs. Currently, PBKS are in third place with 15 points from 11 games and a net run rate of +0.376, while DC are in fifth place with 13 points from 11 games and a net run rate of +0.362.
PBKS’ next match is against Mumbai Indians (MI) on 11 May in Ahmedabad, while DC will play against Gujarat Titans (GT) on the same day in Delhi.
