IPL 2025: Who won yesterday's game between MI vs DC?

Mumbai Indians (MI) sealed a playoff spot after beating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 59 runs in Mumbai in the ongoing IPL 2025. MI’s Suryakumar Yadav won the Player of the Match award for his unbeaten knock of 73 runs.

After winning the toss, DC skipper Faf du Plessis chose to bowl first. Their regular captain, Axar Patel, missed the game as he was down with a bad flu. This was a must-win match for both teams to stay in the playoff race. MI rose to the challenge and posted a fighting total of 180/5 in 20 overs.

Suryakumar was the standout with his 73* off 43 balls. But in the end, it was Naman Dhir who finished strong with an excellent unbeaten 24 off just eight balls. Ryan Rickelton, Will Jacks, and Tilak Varma also got starts but failed to build on them.

For DC, Mukesh Kumar picked up two wickets. Dushmantha Chameera, Mustafizur Rahman, and Kuldeep Yadav took one each.

In reply, DC batters struggled badly. Apart from Sameer Rizvi’s 39 off 35 and Vipraj Nigam’s 20 off 11, no one else scored much. There were no major partnerships, and the team collapsed. They were all out for just 121 in 18.2 overs.

For MI, both Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets each. Jacks, Karn Sharma, Deepak Chahar, and Trent Boult took one each.

With this win, MI joined Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the playoffs. MI are now in fourth place with 16 points from 13 games and a net run rate of +1.292.

As for DC, their playoff hopes are over. With one game left in the league stage, they are in fifth place with 13 points from 13 games and a net run rate of -0.019. MI will face PBKS on 26 May in Jaipur. DC will also play PBKS in Jaipur on 24 May.
