Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered their fourth win of the ongoing IPL 2025 by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by six wickets in Lucknow. LSG’s Aiden Markram was named Player of the Match for his quickfire 58 off 31 balls.
After winning the toss, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant chose to bowl first. However, the LSG bowlers struggled early on against the opening pair of GT — skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Together, they added 120 runs in just 12.1 overs. Gill was the first to go, scoring 60 off 38 balls, followed by Sudharsan, who made 56 off 37.
After that strong start, GT’s batting collapsed. They could only manage 60 runs in the final eight overs while losing six wickets as they ended up with 180/6 on the board in 20 overs. For LSG, Ravi Bishnoi and Shardul Thakur took two wickets each, while Avesh Khan and Digvesh Rathi picked up one wicket apiece.
Let’s take a look at LSG’s chase
In response, Pant opened the innings alongside Markram. The pair gave LSG a flying start, adding 65 runs for the first wicket in just 6.2 overs. However, Pant’s poor run with the bat continued, as he managed only 21 from 18 balls.
At number three, Nicholas Pooran continued his explosive form. He smashed 61 off 34 balls at a strike rate of 179.41, hitting seven sixes and just one four. Markram also contributed a solid 58 from 31 before getting out. In the end, Ayush Badoni stayed unbeaten on 28 off 20 balls, guiding LSG to the target in 19.3 overs with six wickets in hand.
For GT, Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets, while Rashid Khan and Washington Sundar took one each. With this win, LSG have moved up to third place on the points table, with eight points from six games and a net run rate of +0.162.
GT, despite the loss, remained in second place with eight points from six matches and a superior net run rate of +1.081. LSG’s next match is against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 12 April in Lucknow. GT will face Delhi Capitals (DC) on 19 April in Ahmedabad.
