IPL 2025: Who won yesterday's game between KKR vs SRH?

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered their second win of IPL 2025 as they thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 80 runs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Playing in front of their home crowd, KKR put up a dominant performance, with Vaibhav Arora earning the Player of the Match award for his outstanding three-wicket spell.

After winning the toss, SRH skipper Pat Cummins decided to bowl first, and the decision initially seemed correct as SRH’s bowlers started well. KKR lost both openers early, with just 16 runs on the board. However, Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi steadied the innings with an 81-run partnership for the third wicket.

Rahane was dismissed for 38 off 27 balls, while Angkrish fell after scoring 50 off 32 balls. Venkatesh Iyer then took charge, forming a crucial 91-run stand with Rinku Singh for the fifth wicket. Iyer finally found form this season, smashing 60 off just 29 balls, marking his third consecutive IPL fifty against SRH.

Rinku remained unbeaten on 32 off 17 balls as KKR posted a strong total of 200/6 in 20 overs. Kamindu Mendis, Harshal Patel, Zeeshan Ansari, Pat Cummins, and Mohammed Shami picked up one wicket each for SRH.

Let’s take a look at SRH’s chase

In reply, SRH needed a strong start, but KKR struck early as Vaibhav Arora dismissed Travis Head and Ishan Kishan. Later, he dismissed Heinrich Klaasen also. Varun Chakravarthy took three wickets, while Andre Russell picked up two.

Sunil Narine and Harshit Rana chipped in with one wicket each as SRH were bowled out for just 120 in 16.4 overs. Klaasen top-scored with 33 off 21 balls, while Kamindu Mendis contributed 27 off 20.

With this loss, SRH have now dropped to the bottom of the points table with just two points from four matches and a net run rate of -1.612. KKR, on the other hand, have climbed to fifth place with four points in four games and a net run rate of +0.070. SRH will face Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 6 in Hyderabad, while KKR will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 8 in Kolkata.
