Gujarat Titans (GT) registered a convincing 38-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad. After setting a mammoth target of 225, GT bowlers restricted SRH batters to 186/6 and won the game. Prasidh Krishna was named the Player of the Match for taking two crucial wickets.
After winning the toss, SRH skipper Pat Cummins decided to bowl first. But that decision backfired as both GT openers, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, gave a brisk start. They added 87 runs in 6.5 overs before Sai got out for 48 (23). Gill continued and stitched a 62-run partnership for the second wicket with Jos Buttler.
Ultimately, the GT skipper got out for 76 (38), while Buttler scored 64 (37). Washington Sundar added 21 (16) as GT posted a massive total of 224/6 in 20 overs. For SRH, Jaydev Unadkat was the standout bowler with three wickets, while Cummins and Zeeshan Ansari picked up one wicket each.
Let’s take a look at SRH’s Chase
In reply, both Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave a quickfire start to the visitors, taking them to 49/0 in 4.2 overs. Then, a brilliant catch from Rashid Khan saw Head dismissed for 20 off 16. Ishan Kishan came in at number three but added only 13 off 17. Abhishek was the lone warrior, continuing to play his shots.
When he eventually got out for 74 (41), SRH were 139/3 in 15 overs. Quickfire contributions from Heinrich Klaasen (23 off 18) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (21* off 10) were not enough, as SRH managed only 186/6 in 20 overs, falling short by 38 runs.
For GT, both Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets each, while Ishant Sharma and Gerald Coetzee picked up one wicket apiece.
