IPL 2025: Who won yesterday's game between GT vs CSK?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finished their disappointing IPL 2025 campaign with an 83-run win over Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad. The already play-off-bound team got embarrassed in front of their home crowd, and CSK’s Dewald Brevis won the Player of the Match award for his 57-run knock.

After winning the toss, CSK skipper MS Dhoni decided to bat first. The decision turned out to be correct as their batters showed superb intensity throughout the innings to post a mammoth total of 230/5 in 20 overs. Ayush Mhatre (34 off 17) and Urvil Patel (37 off 19) were instrumental, along with Devon Conway, who scored 52 off 37.

But their young South African talent, Brevis, took apart the GT bowlers and smashed 57 off 23 balls at a strike rate of 247.82. Ravindra Jadeja also supported Brevis with an unbeaten knock of 21 off 18 balls. For GT, Prasidh Krishna bagged two wickets, while Sai Kishore, M. Shahrukh Khan, and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.

In reply, GT had a disastrous start as they lost their skipper, Shubman Gill, Sherfane Rutherford, and Jos Buttler cheaply, and GT were 30/3 in 4.3 overs. Sai Sudharsan scored 41 off 28 but failed to go big. Then the following batters failed to come up with significant contributions, and ultimately, GT got bundled out for just 147 in 18.3 overs.

For CSK, both Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad bagged three wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets. Khaleel Ahmed and Matheesha Pathirana took one wicket each. However, despite this win, CSK finished the season at the rock bottom, in 10th place with eight points in 14 games and a net run rate of -0.647.

It has happened for the first time in IPL history that CSK have finished in the 10th spot. For GT, they lost the chance to seal the top spot and a place in Qualifier One. Now, their fate is completely in the hands of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), as they would now hope LSG defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which would seal them a place within the top two positions.
