Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) climbed to the top of the points table in the ongoing IPL 2025 after beating Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. RCB’s Krunal Pandya put in a brilliant all-round performance, earning the Player of the Match award.
After winning the toss, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar opted to bowl first. The pitch wasn’t easy for batting, with players struggling to time the ball properly. Despite that, DC managed to post a moderate total of 162/8 in 20 overs.
KL Rahul was their top scorer with 41 off 39 balls, while there were important contributions from Abishek Porel (28 off 11), Faf du Plessis (22 off 26), and Tristan Stubbs (34 off 18). For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was outstanding, especially at the death, picking up three wickets. Josh Hazlewood also took two wickets, while Yash Dayal and Krunal Pandya picked up one each.
Let’s take a look at RCB’s Chase
In response, Jacob Bethell opened the innings alongside Virat Kohli. Making his IPL debut, Bethell managed only 12 off six balls. Coming in at number three, Devdutt Padikkal departed for a two-ball duck, and skipper Rajat Patidar added just six runs. At 26/3 in four overs, RCB were in a tricky situation.
However, Krunal Pandya joined Kohli at the crease and together they stitched a match-winning 119-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Kohli notched another half-century, scoring 51 off 47 balls before getting out. Krunal remained unbeaten on a brilliant 73 off 47 balls, while Tim David played a quick cameo, smashing 19 off just five balls at a strike rate of 380.00.
Ultimately, RCB chased down the target with nine balls to spare and six wickets in hand. After this win, RCB sit at the top of the table with 14 points from 10 matches and a healthy net run rate of +0.521. DC, on the other hand, have slipped to fourth with 12 points from nine games and a net run rate of +0.482.
RCB will next face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Bengaluru on 3 May, while DC will host Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Delhi on 29 April.
