IPL 2025: Who won yesterday's game between DC vs MI?

Mumbai Indians (MI) secured their second win of the season with a thrilling 12-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It marked DC’s first defeat of IPL 2025. MI spinner Karn Sharma was named Player of the Match for his game-changing three-wicket haul.

After winning the toss, DC skipper Axar Patel chose to bowl first. MI’s innings got off to a shaky start with Rohit Sharma’s poor run continuing—he managed just 18 off 12 balls. However, Ryan Rickelton (41 off 25) and Suryakumar Yadav (40 off 28) steadied the innings with valuable contributions.

The highlight of MI's batting came from Tilak Varma, who top-scored with a fluent 59 off 33 balls. In the final overs, Naman Dhir provided the finishing touch with a powerful 38* off just 17 balls, helping MI post an impressive total of 205/5 in 20 overs. For DC, Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam took two wickets each, while Mukesh Kumar picked up one.

Let’s take a look at DC’s chase

In reply, Delhi Capitals had a poor start as Jake Fraser-McGurk was dismissed for a golden duck. Impact substitute Karun Nair came in at number three and played one of the best innings of his IPL career, smashing 89 off 40 balls—his first IPL fifty since 2018. He and Abhishek Porel (47 off 30) built a 119-run partnership in just 10.1 overs.

But MI pulled things back strongly after that. DC suffered a collapse, losing four wickets for just 41 runs. The introduction of Karn Sharma as MI’s impact player proved crucial as he claimed three quick wickets, while Mitchell Santner supported well with two.

Despite the collapse, DC still looked in control when they needed just 23 runs from the last two overs with Ashutosh Sharma at the crease. Jasprit Bumrah bowled the 19th over, but it was MI’s brilliance in the field that turned the match. They pulled off three consecutive run-outs, and DC were eventually bowled out for 193 in 19 overs—falling short by 12 runs.
