IPL 2025: Who won yesterday's game between DC vs KKR?

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered a huge win yesterday as they defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 14 runs in Delhi and kept themselves alive in the race for the playoffs of the ongoing IPL 2025. Due to his all-round contributions, Sunil Narine was named the Player of the Match.

After winning the toss, DC skipper Axar Patel decided to bowl first, but the decision did not turn out to be a good one as KKR openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz (26 off 12) and Narine (27 off 16) provided a blistering start. KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane also chipped in with a quickfire 26 (14). 

Angkrish Raghuvanshi, at number four, played a sensible knock of 44 off 32. In the end, Rinku Singh added 36 (25), while yesterday’s birthday boy Russell also scored 17 off nine balls as KKR posted 204/9 in 20 overs.

For DC, Mitchell Starc took three wickets against his former side, while both Vipraj Nigam and Axar grabbed two wickets each. Dushmantha Chameera picked up one wicket.

Let’s take a look at DC’s Chase

In reply, at one end, DC opener Faf du Plessis was looking good, but he kept losing partners at the other end. Players like Abishek Porel, Karun Nair, and KL Rahul got out early as DC were 60/3 in 6.3 overs. Then du Plessis and Axar put up a 76-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

In the 14th over, Narine took the wickets of Axar (43 off 23) and Tristan Stubbs, and that shifted the momentum towards the visitors. In his next over, he dismissed du Plessis for 62 (45). In the end, both Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam tried their best, but ultimately, DC fell short by 14 runs.

For KKR, Narine bagged three wickets, while Varun Chakaravarthy picked up two wickets. Anukul Roy, Vaibhav Arora, and Andre Russell also grabbed one each.

With this massive win, KKR remained at number seven in the points table with nine points from 10 games, with a net run rate of +0.271. Meanwhile, after two consecutive losses at home, DC are now in the fourth spot with 12 points from 10 games, with a net run rate of +0.362.

KKR’s next match is against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Kolkata on 4 May, while DC will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 5 May in Hyderabad.
