After winning the toss, SRH skipper Pat Cummins chose to bowl first. For the home side, two youngsters, Shaik Rasheed and Ayush Mhatre, opened the innings. But it was a dream start for Mohammed Shami and SRH, as he took the wicket of Rasheed with the first ball of the match. Sam Curran came in at number three but managed only nine runs off 10 balls.

Ayush showed his talent again by scoring a quick 30 off 19, but after his wicket, CSK were 47/3 in 5.3 overs. Dewald Brevis then came in to support Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja got out after scoring 21 (17), but Brevis impressed on his CSK debut, hitting one four and four sixes in his 42 off 25.

He was dismissed by a stunning catch from Kamindu Mendis, which surprised both players and fans alike. In the end, Shivam Dube added 12 off nine, while Deepak Hooda scored a crucial 22 (21), as CSK were bowled out for 154 in 19.5 overs.

In reply, SRH also had a shaky start. Travis Head was out for 19 (16), and Abhishek Sharma got a two-ball duck. Heinrich Klaasen also got out cheaply for seven off eight balls. However, Ishan Kishan’s 44 (34) steadied the innings, with support from Aniket Verma, who scored 19 (19).
