IPL 2025: What happens if PBKS vs MI, Qualifier 2, gets washed out due to rain?

Mumbai Indians are scheduled to take on the Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, June 1. The winner of this contest will move to the grand finale against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 3.

However, what happens if the second qualifier between PBKS and MI gets washed out due to rain or gets abandoned due to other reasons? In this article, let’s take a look at what happens if the much-awaited game gets washed out.

It’s important to note that the IPL 2025 Final has a reserve day. However, Qualifier 2 doesn’t have any backup day scheduled by the BCCI and IPL Governing Council. So, if the game between PBKS and MI gets no result, Punjab Kings will advance to the final, courtesy of finishing higher in the standings in the league phase.

It’s worth noting that the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings ended the standings at the top spot in the league phase with 19 points from 14 games at an NRR of 0.372. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians, led by Hardik Pandya, finished the league stage at the fourth rank with 16 points. Hence, PBKS would move to the final against RCB if the game gets abandoned.
