The 55th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 was called off due to rain between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Hyderabad yesterday. After opting to bowl first, SRH did well to restrict DC to 133/7 in 20 overs. The entire bowling unit, especially their captain Pat Cummins, took full advantage of the conditions and put DC under a lot of pressure.
However, due to rain, the second innings did not even start, and eventually, the match was called off. Cummins was the star with the ball for his three-wicket haul, dismissing DC’s Abishek Porel, Karun Nair, and Faf du Plessis. After yesterday’s performance, Cummins now has 13 wickets in 11 games but is yet to break into the top 10 of the Purple Cap list.
Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Prasidh Krishna is leading the chart with 19 wickets in 10 games. He is followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Josh Hazlewood, who has picked up 18 wickets in 10 games. After that, three bowlers have taken 16 wickets each so far and are sitting in the third, fourth, and fifth spot, respectively.
They are Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) Arshdeep Singh (in 11 games), Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Noor Ahmad (in 11 games), and Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Trent Boult (in 11 games). Next, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Varun Chakravarthy is in the sixth spot with 15 wickets in 11 games. In the remaining four spots of the top 10 Purple Cap list, each bowler has taken 14 wickets.
They are RCB’s Krunal Pandya (in 11 games), SRH’s Harshal Patel (in 10 games), PBKS’ Yuzvendra Chahal (in 11 games), and GT’s Mohammed Siraj (in 10 games). Other bowlers like DC’s Mitchell Starc (in 11 games) and CSK’s Khaleel Ahmed (also in 11 games) have also taken 14 wickets each, but are not in the top 10 of the list.
