Updated Purple Cap table after RR vs MI Match 50

Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals by 100 runs in the one-sided encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL). With this win, the five-time champions have climbed to the top of the table while the Royals have been knocked out of the competition with their eighth loss in 11 matches.

The hosts could pick only two wickets with the ball in their 20 overs after winning the toss and conceded 217 runs. However, MI were on the top in their defence picking up all 10 wickets of the opposition for just 117 runs. Karn Sharma and Trent Boult picked up three wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah scalped a couple. Deepak Chahar and Hardik Pandya also dismissed a batter each as MI won by 100 runs.

With his three-wicket haul against the Royals, Trent Boult has jumped to third place in the list of bowlers with most wickets this season. He has now picked up 16 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 8.8. Hardik Pandya is another MI bowler in this list and he is in seventh place, having picked up 13 wickets so far at an economy of 8.85.

Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood holds the purple cap at the moment with 18 wickets in 10 matches. Tall fast bowler Praisdh Krishna is next with 17 wickets so far while Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed, Mitchell Starc, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh being the other bowlers on the list.
