IPL 2025: Updated Purple Cap table after RCB vs PBKS Match 34

The battle for the Purple Cap in IPL 2025 has intensified following the conclusion of Match 34 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings. With bowlers stepping up in crunch moments and spinners playing a decisive role on slowing pitches, the top of the wicket-takers’ chart now features a mix of pace and spin, youth and experience, all vying for the prestigious bowling crown.

Leading the pack is Chennai’s left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad, who has taken 12 wickets in 7 matches. His control, variations, and ability to deceive batters in the middle overs have made him a vital asset for CSK. With an economy of 7.12 and remarkable consistency, Noor has managed to not just contain but strike at crucial junctures, giving his team the edge.

Joining him at the top with an identical wicket tally is RCB’s Josh Hazlewood. The Australian pacer has been reliable with the new ball and handy at the death. Despite a slightly expensive economy rate of 8.17, his knack for breaking partnerships keeps him in the running as one of the tournament’s most impactful fast bowlers.

Close behind, Delhi’s Kuldeep Yadav has emerged as one of the most effective spinners this season, with 11 wickets from six games. What stands out is his impressive economy of just 6.04, highlighting not only his wicket-taking prowess but also his ability to choke runs during the middle overs. His comeback after injuries in previous seasons has added a new dimension to Delhi’s bowling attack.

Hardik Pandya has also found form with the ball for Mumbai, picking up 11 wickets in six matches and even bagging a five-wicket haul—making him the only bowler among the top ten to achieve this feat so far. His economy might be on the higher side at 9.15, but his impact with the ball, especially during power plays and finishing overs, has been undeniable.

Among others, Khaleel Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, and Varun Chakravarthy have all been effective in different roles. Shardul’s ability to pick wickets despite being expensive, Varun’s mystery spin, and Khaleel’s disciplined left-arm pace have helped their teams stay competitive.

Rounding out the top ten are three Gujarat bowlers, Prasidh Krishna, R Sai Kishore, and Mohammed Siraj, each with 10 wickets to their name. With several bowlers within striking distance of the top spot and conditions continuing to favor varied bowling attacks, the Purple Cap contest promises to remain fiercely competitive as IPL 2025 progresses.
