Mumbai Indians have been knocked out of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Punjab Kings have made it to the final of the tournament and will face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Punjab Kings became the first team to beat Mumbai Indians while chasing a total of more than 200. Shreyas Iyer was the hero for them, smashing an unbeaten 87 off just 41 balls as they got over the line with 6 balls and 5 wickets in hand.
As far as the purple cap race is concerned, Trent Boult of Mumbai Indians finished his IPL season in third place with 22 wickets. He picked up only one wicket in this game and managed to jump from fourth to third place.
With Boult not playing the final now, Josh Hazlewood is the closest active competitor to win the purple cap. But for that to happen, the Aussie player will have to pick four wickets at least. For now though it seems that Prasidh Krishna of Gujarat Titans is winning the race, having picked up 25 wickets in just 15 matches at an economy of 8.27.
