IPL 2025: Updated Purple Cap table after PBKS vs LSG Match 54

Bowlers were at the receiving end of a lot of runs on the double-header day on Sunday (May 4) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). A total of 24 wickets fell on the day, 12 in each game, as teams aggregated 400 runs in both matches. Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings were the deserved winners beating Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants respectively.

As far as the list of players with the most wickets in IPL 2025 so far is concerned, Prasidh Krishna and Josh Hazlewood remain on top two positions with 19 and 18 wickets respectively. Arshdeep Singh of Punjab Kings picked up three wickets in his four-over spell on Sunday and jumped to third place. He has 16 wickets to show for his efforts in 11 matches and is a contender to win the purple cap as well.

Varun Chakaravarthy scalped two wickets against the Royals which helped him to climb to sixth position. With his effort against RR, the spin bowler took his tally to 15 wickets this season. Yuzvendra Chahal of Punjab scalped only one wicket in the previous game and is in eighth position with 14 wickets in 11 matches in IPL 2025.

Mohammed Siraj and Mitchell Starc complete the top 10 list of players in the race to win the purple cap this season. Notably, apart from Noor Ahmad (16 wickets) of Chennai Super Kings, all the other bowlers’ teams are in the race to make it to the playoffs.
