The 58th clash of the ongoing IPL 2025 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was called off after just 10.1 overs of action. PBKS opted to bat first and smashed 122 runs for the opening wicket before the match was eventually abandoned due to a significant technical failure at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
The BCCI also issued a statement that read: "The Punjab Kings v Delhi Capitals match (Match#58) in Tata IPL was forced to be abandoned due to a significant technical failure at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Due to a power outage in the area, one of the light towers at the HPCA Stadium malfunctioned. BCCI regrets the inconvenience caused to the in-stadium attendees."
T Natarajan claimed the only wicket in the match, but it did not cause any major change in the Purple Cap standings. Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Prasidh Krishna and Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Noor Ahmad continue to lead the race with 20 wickets each.
They are followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Josh Hazlewood and Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Trent Boult in third and fourth place, respectively, with 18 wickets each. Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Varun Chakravarthy is in fifth with 17 wickets.
Next, PBKS’ Arshdeep Singh and KKR’s Vaibhav Arora hold the sixth and seventh spots, respectively, with 16 wickets apiece. GT’s Mohammed Siraj and KKR’s Harshit Rana are tied with 15 wickets each, occupying the eighth and ninth positions. In tenth place is GT’s Sai Kishore, who has taken 14 wickets so far.
