A total of 411 runs were scored at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday (May 19) during the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Only 11 wickets fell in the clash which saw SRH chase down a mammoth target of 206 runs with six wickets and 10 balls in hand.
Even though it was a tough day for the bowlers, the likes of Eshan Malinga, Avesh Khan and Digvesh Rathi did well to only pick wickets but also keep the batters on the tenterhooks with their bowling. However, it was Harshal Patel who entered the purple cap race despite picking up only one wicket.
He returned with figures of 1/49 in his four overs and jumped to ninth place in the list of the bowlers with the most wickets in IPL 2025. He has so far picked up 15 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 9.73. However, it is unlikely that he will win the purple cap as SRH have been knocked out of the tournament.
Prasidh Krishna of Gujarat Titans is on top of the pile to win the purple cap at the moment with 21 wickets in 12 matches. Noor Ahmad of Chennai Super Kings is next with 20 scalps while Josh Hazlewood, Trent Boult and Varun Chakaravarthy follow him in the list.
