Chennai Super Kings (CSK) edged past Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by two wickets in a thrilling IPL 2025 encounter. The standout performer of the match was CSK's Noor Ahmad, who was named Player of the Match for his outstanding spell. He picked up four wickets and played a key role in derailing KKR's batting lineup.
With this performance, Noor has climbed back to the second spot in the Purple Cap standings, now having 20 wickets from 12 games. Despite KKR's loss, Vaibhav Arora managed to take three wickets. However, he was expensive, conceding 48 runs in just three overs.
As a result, his performance didn’t benefit the team much, but he remains in the seventh spot on the Purple Cap list with 16 wickets in 11 games. Harshit Rana also contributed two wickets for KKR and has now moved up to ninth place, with 15 wickets in 12 matches.
The Purple Cap leaderboard is still topped by Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Prasidh Krishna, who has claimed 20 wickets in just 11 matches. Following closely behind him is Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Josh Hazlewood, sitting in third place with 18 wickets in 10 games. In the fourth spot is Mumbai Indians’ (MI) pacer Trent Boult, who also has 18 wickets to his name.
KKR’s Varun Chakaravarthy picked up two wickets in the match against CSK and now sits fifth on the Purple Cap table with 17 wickets from 12 games. Just behind him is Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) left-arm quick Arshdeep Singh, who has taken 16 wickets in 11 matches.
GT’s Mohammed Siraj holds the eighth spot with 15 wickets in 11 outings, while his teammate R Sai Kishore completes the top 10 with 14 wickets in 11 matches. He shares the 14-wicket tally with five other bowlers—RCB’s Krunal Pandya, SRH’s Harshal Patel, PBKS’ Yuzvendra Chahal, DC’s Mitchell Starc, and CSK’s Khaleel Ahmed.
