It was the final double header day in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday (May 25). Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad registered dominating wins as both matches ended up being heavily one-sided. CSK defeated Gujarat Titans by 83 runs while Kolkata Knight Riders went down to SRH by 110 runs.
With their second consecutive loss, the Titans’ top-two spot is in trouble at the moment. They will now need a favour from LSG to beat RCB to stay in top two as one of Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians will make it to the top of the table on Monday (May 26).
As for other teams, SRH got on a roll at the fag end of the season and to finish with a hattrick of wins. They end their campaign in sixth place with six wins, seven losses and one no result and have 13 points to show for their efforts.
CSK needed to win by 101 runs in their final league stage clash to avoid a 10th place finish. Nevertheless, they also ended their season on a high, defeating the table toppers. For the first time in history of the IPL, CSK finished last, with only four wins from 14 matches.
With a massive loss of 110 runs, KKR slipped to eighth place after 14 matches with only five wins to their name and seven losses, to go with two no result matches.
