Despite a few good overs from Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen, PBKS bowlers failed to contain the Royals’ power-packed middle order.
In reply, Punjab Kings never quite got going. Nehal Wadhera played a lone hand with a gritty 62 off 41 balls, and Glenn Maxwell scored a quick 30, but regular fall of wickets kept them on the back foot. RR’s bowling unit was sharp and relentless, with Jofra Archer leading the way by picking up 3/25 in his four overs. Sandeep Sharma and Maheesh Theekshana also contributed with two wickets apiece, ensuring PBKS could only manage 155/9 in their chase.
With this win, RR earned their second victory of the season and climbed up the points table. However, their net run rate still remains in the negative, owing to earlier defeats. PBKS, despite the loss, remained in the top four with two wins from three games. The result also adds pressure on teams like CSK and MI, who have had a shaky start to their campaigns.
The tournament now looks even more competitive as the top teams continue to shuffle after every game. With DC and RCB still leading the charge, every match becomes crucial in the race to the playoffs.
