IPL 2025: Updated Points Table after RCB vs KKR Match 58

The resumption of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) didn’t go to plan on Saturday (May 17). The clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was abandoned without a toss due to rain.

Incessant rain in the Garden City dampened the spirits of the jam-packed crowd as this was the first outing for Virat Kohli since taking the retirement from Tests earlier this week. With this washout, RCB have now climbed to the top spot, with 17 points from 12 matches. They have now almost qualified for the playoffs, and getting the ‘Q’ ahead of their name is a mere formality now.

Meanwhile, a washout has hurt the defending champions KKR badly as they have been officially knocked out of the tournament. They are in sixth place but have already played 13 matches and have only five wins to show for their efforts. With only 12 points, KKR stand eliminated as four or more teams still have the possibility of going past 14 points.

Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals are already out of the race for the playoffs. Lucknow Super Giants are in seventh place but remain in the hunt as they have three matches left and need to win all three. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are in fifth and fourth places and both of them are within their reach to make the playoffs. Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings are among the favourites to make the top four.
