Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad locked horns in the 61st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday (May 18). The match was played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow and the fans witnessed the home team going down despite posting 205 runs on the board.

It was a must-win clash for LSG and the loss has knocked them out of the playoff race. They remained at the seventh position despite the crushing loss but their hopes of making it to the top four are ended now. LSG have so far played 12 matches and won only five of them with 10 points to show for their efforts.
On the other hand, SRH, despite winning comfortably, are in eighth place in the points table after 12 matches. They registered their fourth win of the season and have already been knocked out of the tournament. Abhishek Sharma was the hero for them in this victory as the left-hander smashed 59 runs off just 20 balls.
As far as the playoffs is concerned, now only two teams are in contention for the lone spot remaining. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have two matches left each and both are in a must-win situation to make it to the top four. Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings have already qualified for the playoffs. However, these three teams are in the race to make it to top two as it gives them an extra chance to qualify for the final.
