IPL 2025: Updated points table after LSG vs DC Match 40

The 40th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 went in favour of Delhi Capitals (DC) as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow with ease by eight wickets. After winning the toss, DC skipper Axar Patel asked the home side to bat first.

Despite having a good start, DC bowlers did exceptionally well to pull things off in the second part of the innings as LSG posted a modest total of 159/6 in 20 overs. Aiden Markram was the top scorer with 52 off 33 balls, and other significant scorers were Mitchell Marsh (45 off 36) and Ayush Badoni (36 off 21). 

LSG managed an opening partnership of 87 runs in 10 overs, courtesy of the Markram-Marsh pair, but in the remaining 10 overs, they added only 72 runs for five wickets. DC’s Mukesh Kumar was the star, picking up four wickets for 33 in his four overs and that earned him the Player of the Match award also. 

Mitchell Starc and Dushmantha Chameera bagged one each also. In reply, Karun Nair got out quickly after providing a quick start to the visitors. But, Abhishek Porel scored 51 off 36, and KL Rahul, batting at number three, showcased his shots to score an unbeaten knock of 57 runs off 42 balls.

Skipper Axar also provided the much-needed support with his unbeaten knock of 34 off 20 balls as DC sealed the game in 17.5 overs with eight wickets in hand. With this win, DC are now in the second spot with 12 points in eight games, at a net run rate of +0.657. 

After losing this game in front of the home crowd, LSG are now in the fifth spot with 10 points in nine games, with a net run rate of -0.054.
