IPL 2025: Updated points table after KKR vs PBKS Match 44

The 44th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 was promised to be an enthralling one when the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), locked horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Kolkata. After winning the toss, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer opted to bat first, and their batters did not disappoint as they posted 201/4 in 20 overs.

KKR bowlers were clueless in the first phase of the innings, but in the last five overs, they made a comeback to restrict the visitors to 201. Both openers, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, were fantastic with their clear power-hitting, and they added 120 runs for the first wicket in 11.5 overs. 

Priyansh scored 69 off 35 balls at a strike rate of 197.14, while Prabhsimran batted at a strike rate of 169.38, scoring 83 off 49 balls. However, Iyer remained not out on 25 (16), but other batters like Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, and Marco Jansen failed to add quick runs as PBKS managed only 40 runs in the last five overs for the loss of two wickets. 

For KKR, Vaibhav Arora grabbed two wickets, while both Andre Russell and Varun Chakaravarthy bagged one each. In reply, both Sunil Narine and Rahmanullah Gurbaz came out to open the innings, but after scoring just seven runs in the first over, the rain came and thunderstorms struck.

As a result, the match was called off and both teams were awarded one point each. Hence, PBKS are now in the fourth spot with 11 points in nine games, with a net run rate of +0.177, while KKR remain in the seventh spot with seven points in nine games, with a net run rate of +0.212.
