The 64th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played between Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. LSG were already knocked out of the tournament while the Titans were playing to seal their place in top 2.

However, it wasn’t to be for the Titans as the Super Giants played superbly to beat them by 33 runs. Mitchell Marsh was the star for LSG as he smashed his maiden IPL century and scored 117 runs off just 64 balls with 10 fours and eight sixes. Nicholas Pooran assisted him well to smash an unbeaten 56 off 27 deliveries with four fours and five sixes.
On the back of these knocks, LSG posted a mammoth total of 235 runs for the loss of two wickets in their 20 overs. In response, GT batters fought well but none of their batters could play a big knock like Marsh. Shahrukh Khan gave a good account of his batting with a score of 57 runs off 29 balls as they reached only 202 runs for the loss of nine wickets.
Despite the loss, the Titans remained at the top of the points table with nine wins from 13 matches. Meanwhile, LSG climbed to sixth place after their sixth win of the season in 13 matches. The Titans will face CSK in their final league stage clash and will have to win to have any chance of qualifying for top two.
