Fans witnessed the first Super Over of this ongoing IPL 2025 as Delhi Capitals (DC) won it against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Delhi in the 32nd match. After winning the toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson asked DC to bat first. Abhishek Porel was the highest scorer with 49 runs off 37 balls, while KL Rahul also supported him with his 38-run knock off 32 balls.
In the end, an unbeaten knock came from Tristan Stubbs (34 off 18), and the captain, Axar Patel’s 34 off 14, helped DC to post 188/5 in 20 overs. In reply, RR had a solid start as their opening pair of Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed 61 runs before the RR skipper was forced to retire out for 31 (19). Riyan Parag failed as Axar bagged him.
Axar had a fantastic all-round outing as a batter, bowler, and also as a leader. The way he utilised his bowlers, and especially the usage of Mitchell Starc at the death, proved to be a masterstroke for him. Both Jaiswal and Nitish Rana smashed 51 runs each. But in the end, Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer tried their best.
All they could manage was a tie as they also reached 188/4 in 20 overs. Starc defended nine runs in the last over and took the game into the Super Over. There, he bowled again and conceded just 11 runs, which DC batters Stubbs and Rahul chased like nothing in four balls as DC won the game in the Super Over.
With this win, DC are now in the top spot with 10 points in six games, with a net run rate of +0.744.
