IPL 2025: Updated Points Table after DC vs KKR Match 48

In the 48th match of the ongoing IPL 2025, the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced Delhi Capitals (DC) in Delhi in a must-win clash to stay alive in the race for the playoffs this season. KKR pulled off a thrilling win and, despite remaining in seventh place with nine points from 10 games and a net run rate of +0.271, they are still in contention.

It was Sunil Narine whose all-round brilliance that helped KKR win the game. First, he played a cameo of 27 off 16 balls, and then bowled a match-winning spell, taking three wickets for 29 runs in his four overs.

In the 14th over of DC’s chase, Narine came on to bowl and took two wickets — DC skipper Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs. In his next over, he dismissed DC’s last hope, Faf du Plessis, for 62 off 45 balls.

Meanwhile, in the last eight overs of the game, Narine captained the side as regular skipper Ajinkya Rahane was off the field due to a finger injury, and vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer had been subbed out at the start of the second innings. The veteran all-rounder stepped up and led from the front, shifting the momentum towards the visitors.

Ultimately, KKR snatched a 14-run win at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It marked DC’s second consecutive defeat at home. They now sit in fourth place with 12 points from 10 games, with a net run rate of +0.362.

During the post-match presentation, DC skipper, Axar, while reflecting on the match, said: "The way we bowled in the powerplay, I thought we gave 15-20 too many. In the chase, there were some miscalculations and soft dismissals. The way we restricted them after the powerplay was good. The way we batted, even if two-three batters did well, we lost by very little. When you lose close matches, you know you have to be calm in the middle. When Vipraj was scoring runs, we had hopes. If Ashutosh would have stayed, it would have helped. Luck sometimes works in your favour and sometimes against.”
