IPL 2025: Updated points table after CSK vs SRH Match 43

Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a much-needed victory as they defeated Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in Match 43 of IPL 2025. Chasing a target of 155, SRH showcased a composed batting effort to cross the line with eight balls to spare, breathing new life into their faltering campaign.

Asked to bat first, Chennai Super Kings struggled once again to build momentum. Dewald Brevis stood out with a quickfire 42 off 25 balls, supported by Ayush Mhatre’s handy 30 off 19 deliveries. Deepak Hooda chipped in with 22, but CSK’s innings never really took off as regular wickets fell at crucial junctures. Harshal Patel was the star for SRH with an impressive 4 for 28 in his four overs. Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat complimented him well, picking up two wickets each to bowl out CSK for 154 in 19.5 overs.

In reply, SRH’s chase began cautiously. Ishan Kishan anchored the innings with a steady 44 off 34 balls, laying a solid foundation. Though they lost a few wickets midway, Kamindu Mendis’ calm 32* off 22 balls and Nitish Kumar Reddy’s aggressive 19* off just 13 balls ensured that the Sunrisers crossed the finish line comfortably at 155/5 in 18.4 overs. The win was crucial for SRH, who have struggled for consistency throughout the tournament.

This victory moves Sunrisers Hyderabad up to eighth place on the points table with six points from nine matches. They leapfrog Rajasthan Royals, who are also stuck on four points but have a poorer net run rate. CSK, meanwhile, remain at the bottom with just four points from nine matches and an alarming net run rate of -1.302, making their path to the playoffs almost impossible.

With this result, the mid-table battle has become even tighter. Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals continue to lead the race with 12 points each, while Royal Challengers Bangalore have joined them at the top after nine matches. Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants are close behind with 10 points each, making the playoff race highly competitive.

As the tournament heads towards its final phase, Sunrisers Hyderabad still have an outside chance if they can string together a series of wins. Chennai Super Kings, however, will now need a miracle to turn their disastrous season around.
