It was a dead rubber clash between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season on Tuesday (May 20). The match was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi but the venue change didn’t change the fortunes for the five-time champions as the Royals thumped them by six wickets.
On the back of some brilliant batting from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the Royals chased down the target of 188 runs in just 17.1 overs with six wickets in hand. Finally, the duo of Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer finished the match successfully and helped the team from getting the wooden spoon.
With this victory, the Royals have more or less confirmed that they will not finish in 10th place unless CSK win their last league game by a huge margin. Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2025 also concluded on Tuesday as they finished with four wins and 10 losses in 14 matches with 8 points to show for their efforts.
As for CSK, led by MS Dhoni, they remain rooted to the bottom of the points table after playing 13 matches. They have won only three matches this season so far and have only one game left, against Gujarat Titans on May 25. Not much has gone to the plans for them in IPL 2025 apart from Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis’ signings midway through the season.
