Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) hopes for the playoffs this season ended yesterday as their match against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Hyderabad was called off due to rain. Both teams were awarded one point each, but it was not enough to keep SRH alive in the race for the playoffs.
However, SRH won the toss and opted to bowl first. They did exceptionally well to restrict DC to 133/7 in 20 overs. Apart from Tristan Stubbs’ unbeaten 41, DC’s impact sub, Ashutosh Sharma, played a counter-attacking 41-run knock to help the visitors put some runs on the board.
Players like KL Rahul had a golden chance yesterday to score big, to help his team and also climb the Orange Cap list. But he added only 10 runs off 14 balls before getting dismissed by Jaydev Unadkat. As a result, he is now in the 10th spot in the Orange Cap list with 381 runs in 10 matches.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Virat Kohli still leads the chart with 505 runs in 11 matches. In second spot is Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan with 504 runs in 10 games. Mumbai Indians’ (MI) star batter, Suryakumar Yadav, is in third spot with 475 runs in 11 games.
Rajasthan Royals’ dynamic opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, is in fourth spot with 473 runs in 12 games. Then, in the next two positions, two GT batters follow: Jos Buttler with 470 runs in fifth spot and Shubman Gill with 465 runs in sixth spot, respectively.
Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) Prabhsimran Singh has been sensational with his power-hitting skills, sitting in seventh spot with 437 runs in 11 games. Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) Nicholas Pooran is now in eighth spot with 410 runs, due to some recent setbacks. The PBKS skipper, Shreyas Iyer, has been impactful with the bat and sits at ninth spot with 405 runs in 11 games.
