The race for the Orange Cap in IPL 2025 continues to sizzle as we cross the halfway point of the league stage. Following Match 31 between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, a few familiar faces have cemented their positions at the top while a couple of new names have broken into the top 10 with impactful performances.
Nicholas Pooran remains unshaken at the top of the leaderboard, continuing his stellar form for Lucknow Super Giants. With 357 runs from seven matches at a monstrous strike rate of 208.77, Pooran’s blend of flair and brute power has been unmatched. While he hasn't yet reached the three-figure mark, his four half-centuries and tournament-high 31 sixes speak volumes about his dominance.
Gujarat’s B Sai Sudharsan retained second place with 329 runs in six outings. His consistency at the top of the order, coupled with a strike rate of 151.61 and four fifties, has been a cornerstone of Gujarat’s batting plans. His calm and composed style has impressed many, and he continues to make a strong case for national selection.
Mitchell Marsh, also from Lucknow, continues to be a key contributor with 295 runs from six matches. His aggressive stroke play and 17 sixes have given LSG vital momentum in the middle overs. He holds a strike rate of 171.51 and has notched up four fifties so far.
Punjab’s Shreyas Iyer, after his powerful 97-run knock in Match 31, has edged closer to the top three. Now with 250 runs in six matches at a phenomenal strike rate of 204.92, Iyer is hitting peak form and proving to be a reliable leader for PBKS.
Virat Kohli continues to be Bangalore’s rock, sitting fifth with 248 runs in six games. His calm presence and controlled aggression have kept RCB in contention, with three fifties to his name.
The rest of the top 10 includes Suryakumar Yadav (239), Ajinkya Rahane (221), Jos Buttler (218), Priyansh Arya (216), and Travis Head (214). Notably, Punjab’s youngster Priyansh Arya has grabbed attention with a blistering 103-run knock and a staggering strike rate of 216.00.
