Lucknow Super Giants faced Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 61st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium only to get knocked out of the tournament in front of the home fans. It was a must-win game for LSG to stay alive but they failed to defend the total of 205 runs.

They reached there on the back of brilliant knocks from Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram who notched up their respective fifties. Nicholas Pooran also played his part to propel the team’s score past the 200-run mark. But their efforts went in vain with SRH, led by Abhishek Sharma’s 20-ball 59, putting in a collective batting effort.
As far as the race for the Orange Cap is concerned, nothing much changed at the top. However, Pooran jumped from ninth to eighth position after scoring 45 runs off 26 balls with six fours and one six to his name. He has now scored 455 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of almost 198.
His teammate Mitchell Marsh also entered top 10 at the 10th place after smashing 65 runs off 39 balls. He has amassed 443 runs in 11 outings at a strike rate of 157. Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan of Gujarat Titans remains ahead in the Orange Cap race with Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal to follow.
