Kolkata Knight Riders, the defending champions, could not live up to the mark and failed quite miserably this season. Although they kept losing games, there were individual glories in the process who tried their best. Here are three such players.
Varun Chakravarthy
Kolkata had a rather batting failure this season because they had a couple of bowlers in the top wicket-taking list who did their job well. Varun Chakravarthy is one such name.
The 33-year-old appeared in 13 games this season, where he had picked up 17 wickets with an economy of 7.66, which are excellent numbers for any bowler. He also maintained an average of 22.52 and was eighth in the list for the Purple Cap race.
Sunil Narine
There rarely goes a season where Sunil Narine fails to make an impact. He has been the go-to person for the Knight Riders and performs well season after season for them, either with the ball or with the bat, and this season was no different.
With the ball, he took 12 wickets with an economy of 7.80 and an average of 29.25 in 12 games. Although he did not take many wickets, he did limit the flow of runs. He was remarkable with the bat too, where he smashed 246 runs at the top and that too with a strike rate of 170.83. He was fourth on the list for the Most Valuable Player of the season.
Vaibhav Arora
Another bowler to have a great season for the Kolkata Knight Riders was Vaibhav Arora. He was there when his team needed him and provided breakthroughs on multiple occasions.
He played 12 games for the team and had 17 wickets in his kitty by the end of the season. He also maintained an economy of 10.11 and an average of 25.29, which might seem quite high, but he bowled the difficult overs as well. He showed the signs of the potential he has and might be the match-winner for them in the upcoming seasons.
