IPL 2025: Purple cap updated list after KKR vs RR match 6

The IPL 2025 season is heating up with thrilling performances from bowlers making a significant impact in the early matches. After Match 6 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), the Purple Cap race which is awarded to the leading wicket-taker of the season has seen new contenders emerge.

In a commanding victory, KKR chased down RR’s total of 151 with ease, thanks to Quinton de Kock’s outstanding 97* off 61 balls. Despite RR’s defeat, their bowlers made notable efforts to control the flow of runs. However, KKR’s bowlers stole the show with consistent performances.

Leading the Purple Cap race is Noor Ahmad of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who picked up 4 wickets for just 18 runs in his first match, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.5. His match-winning spell showcased his skill in applying pressure on the opposition.

Following closely is Khaleel Ahmed, also from Chennai Super Kings, who bagged 3 wickets for 29 runs. His ability to strike early in the innings has proved valuable. Krunal Pandya of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) matched Khaleel's tally with 3 wickets in his first outing, displaying his versatility as a left-arm spinner.

Ravichandran Sai Kishore of Gujarat Titans (GT) and Varun Chakravarthy of KKR have also impressed with their tight bowling and wicket-taking abilities. Varun’s consistency across two matches has kept him in the top five, having scalped 3 wickets while maintaining a decent economy.

Despite being on the losing side, Tushar Deshpande of Rajasthan Royals managed to add 3 wickets to his tally, although his economy rate remains a concern. Mitchell Starc of Delhi Capitals (DC) and Vaibhav Arora of KKR also find themselves in the top 10, showcasing their attacking prowess with the ball.

Kuldeep Yadav of Delhi Capitals rounds off the list with 2 wickets at an excellent economy rate of 5. His accuracy and control have made him a key asset for DC’s bowling attack.
