IPL 2025: Predicting starting four overseas players of CSK

Chennai Super Kings is probably the most consistent team in the Indian Premier League with their performances. They hold the record for qualifying for the playoffs the most number of times while also playing the most number of finals. Chennai uses their options wisely and it would be interesting to see the four starting overseas players they choose. Let us see the possible options for the same.

1. Rachin Ravindra

Probably the most well-suited foreign player on the Indian subcontinent in the last couple of years, Rachin Ravindra has excelled with his game. He is in prime form currently as well in the ongoing Champions Trophy where he is one of the highest run scorers.

He was part of the team’s set-up last year as well where he could play only 10 matches and ended up scoring 222 runs at a strike rate of 160.86. He contributes with his left-arm spin bowling as well which makes him a further dangerous weapon. He would surely be looking forward to this season to further better his stats and would be a starter for CSK.

2. Matheesha Pathirana

Donning the yellow jersey of the Chennai Super Kings, Matheesha Pathirana has been able to put up his best performance so far in his career. The confidence he gained in playing in the crucial matches of the Indian Premier League is what proved clinical for him in growing in stature when it came to International cricket as well.

He had put up a stellar performance even the previous year before getting injured. Playing just six matches in the season, he had scalped an astonishing 13 wickets with an economy of just 7.68. Due to his brilliant performances, he was retained by the team ahead of the mega auctions as well. 

3. Devon Conway

The left-handed Kiwi opener has had a brilliant run in the Indian Premier League. Of the 23 matches he has played in the tournament, scoring with an average of 48.63 and a strike rate of 141.28, he has amassed 924 runs. He has not just been scoring consistently but has been doing that at a superb strike rate as well.

He was injured in the previous season due to which he could not participate but the year before that was crucial for him as well as Chennai. Scoring 672 runs in the 2023 season alone, he was one of the highest scorers of the season and played a key role in Chennai becoming the champions of the season.

4. Sam Curran

Curran peaked with his performance in the Indian Premier League playing for Chennai Super Kings itself. He played for CSK in 2020 and 2021, after which when he went to the auction table, he went on to become the most expensive player that year.

Playing a total of 59 matches in his IPL career, he has scored 883 runs and has scalped 58 wickets as well. A left-arm deadly bowling option, especially in the death overs added along with the capability to bat well and score crucial runs down the order, Curran will surely be included in the playing XI.
