The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, the world’s most celebrated T20 League is here. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced its schedule for IPL 2025, stirring up joy for the fans not just in India but across the globe.
The 18th edition of the IPL will include 74 matches spread across 65 days at 13 different venues. The dates of the league stage are March 22–May 18. The playoffs are scheduled for May 20–25.
The tournament's first game will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22 between the reigning champion Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. On May 25, the mega event's final match will be played on the same field.
In what was probably their most dominant IPL season ever, KKR won its third IPL championship in 2024. They finished with the highest net run rate ever and restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to the lowest-ever IPL final total.
In the massive auction, KKR was able to keep several of their best players, and many people predicted that all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer would take over as the team's new captain.
After a home game against Bangalore, Kolkata will be playing next against Rajasthan in an away game at Guwahati on March 26. They would be travelling to Mumbai for their next game against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede on March 31 and finally for their fourth match would be returning to Kolkata to play against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 3.
Playing back-to-back home matches, they will be playing Lucknow Super Gianst on April 6 in their first day game. They move to Chennai for their next game against the Chennai Super Kings on April 11.
Knights would be playing against Punjab Kings in their next match at their home ground in Chandigarh on April 15. Next, they return to Kolkata for their two home matches against Gujarat and Punjab on April 21 and April 26 respectively.
