Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made it to the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year. But the mega auction forced them to rethink their combination even as the franchise tried their best by retaining five players. They managed to keep Heinirch Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy in the team and added 15 more players to their roster in the mega auction.

In fact, SRH did well to pick Ishan Kishan and Mohammed Shami for Rs 11.25 crore and Rs 10 crore respectively in the auction. Both players are certain to be part of their playing XI in the upcoming season. Apart from them, Head and Abhishek will look to get them off to a scintillating start while the likes of Klaasen and Nitish Reddy will be keen on finishing on a high.
Among bowlers, apart from Shami, the Orange Army can bank on Harshal Patel as well while captain Pat Cummins will also look to lead from the front for them. Adam Zampa and Rahul Chahar are the spin bowlers and the attack might look a little light on that front. However, given the quality of their team, SRH look extremely strong and have the potential of going all the way even this year.
After retaining as many as five players, SRH didn’t have much left in their purse but they managed to secure some top players. While Ishan and Shami are some of the best they got hold of, the franchise also did well to get some utility cricketers in their line-up.
Kamindu Mendis, Brydon Carse, and Jaydev Unadkat are the brilliant picks for their base price of Rs 75 lakh, and 1 crore each respectively. Among retained players, Klaasen is their most expensive player as will now get Rs 23 crore in the upcoming season.
